Fiddler on the Roof
Footlights’ most recent production was the famous Broadway musical Fiddler on the Roof.
It is set in the Russian village of Anatevka, just after the turn of the last century, and features a host of beautiful songs, like Sunrise, Sunset and If I were a Rich Man.

Donations to charities
Following our widely acclaimed and successful production, we were able to donate 4,173 euros to local charities.
The charities involved were the Maite Boronat Centre for the Mentally Handicapped in Calpe, Asociación Española Contra el Cancer in Alfaz del Pí, and the Royal British Legion in Spain. Presentations to these worthy causes will be arranged before Christmas.
We are delighted that even in these difficult economic times, we are able to help the local communities in the towns where we perform.

The show
The show was directed by Sue Burgess, with Roger Dean acting as Musical Director, and the original choreography reproduced by Barbara Lloyd and Val Turner. It starred Tony Sim as Tevye, the milkman, and Val Turner as Golde, his wife.
it was presented in Alfaz del Pi on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November. Then 9 days’ later in Calpe, on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd November.

¡Torrevieja!
The very next day, the cast of 30, plus scenery and props, headed south for a performance on Wednesday 23rd November. This was presented in association with the Royal British Legion in Spain, District North, in the splendid new Teatro Municipal, Torrevieja.
This was Footlights’ first ever show in Torrevieja, and they were delighted to be supporting RBL’s wonderful work and raising funds for the 90th Anniversary Poppy Appeal.
